getting squirrely

It's been awhile since I've said hello- this time of year with such short busy days has had me feeling quite like a squirrel and what with the bumper crop of acorns we have this year- I thought I'd make something out of these nuts instead of raking them into the woods- maybe I'm just a little nuts myself- but I have to tell you ladies I so look forward to seeing posts on all your blogs- peeks into what your all up to, like looking into your windows at dusk. With the lights on early this time of year it's not at all hard to imagine- anyhoo thanks for continuing to be so inspiring! (maybe I'll make buttons out of these...)

first traces of snow

we had a holiday on monday (allerheiligen - all saints) so I went to carinthia, the southern part of austria to visit my friend's family. days before they had their first snow. on the way back the train passed mountains with snowy peaks, castles on hilltops, forests in camouflage colours, and clouds looking a little like aurora borealis...

I blog :-)

I have no memory of this...

I was thinking I might post a little survey.

I have been thinking a lot about memory and asking friends and family about their first or earliest memories and about how old they thought they were.

This came about while I was looking at the above photo of me at a zoo, and how some photos create a memory that we may not actually remember, but know second hand because of the photo.
Similarly- stories about us that we incorporate into our memories in the first person even though it is someone else's recollection.

So here is my earliest memory;

I must have been 3 or 4 I was in the kitchen of the first house we lived in, the sun was coming in through the window and I remember the brick pattern linoleum floor, we had a cat that was about to have kittens and my Dad was putting together a metal ride on fire truck that a grandparent gave my brother and I. He was having a hard time doing it and was really frustrated- that made me nervous.

Anyway if you care to I would love to hear some of your first memories and about how old you might have been...:)
